David F. Fanning lives in Bexley, Ohio, and is a principal of Kolbe & Fanning Numismatic Booksellers in Gahanna, Ohio. He was graduated from the Ohio State University with a Ph.D. in English Language and Literature in 2003, having received his M.A. from the same institution in 1996 and his B.A. from the University of Cincinnati in 1994. Fanning is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honorary society. He is a life member of the American Numismatic Association and the Numismatic Bibliomania Society (of which he is also a Board member). He is also a member of the American Numismatic Society, Numismatic Literary Guild, Early American Coppers, Colonial Coin Collectors Club, Royal Canadian Numismatic Association and Russian Numismatic Society. He has published articles in a variety of numismatic publications and has received several awards for his numismatic writing.
